Ardverikie Estate is now home to Highland Activities, a modern multi activity and adventure centre offering a wide range of exciting activities for you to experience during your visit. Below are a selection of activities offered. Please download the pdf at the bottom of the page. This includes a price list as well as all age restrictions.

 

Land Based Activities

Experience the excitement of riding a quad bike around on of the most beautiful estates in the country with outstanding views of the Highland mountains and forests. You may also catch a glimpse of some of the estate’s spectacular wildlife including deer, red squirrels and birds of prey.

clay pigeon shootingClay Pigeon Shooting (Age 10 upwards with parental participation)

Just imagine yourself spending an hour or two on one of Scotland’s most spectacular Highland Estates shooting with some friends and enjoying the friendly competition.

Whether it is instruction, a lesson or just a taster session, we are able to offer a variety of challenges at our dedicated shooting range. We will supply all necessary equipment to allow you to experience the thrill of shooting at fast moving targets in a variety of scenarios.

archery on ardverikie estateArchery or Tomahawk Throwing (minimum age 8)

Fancy a target sport without the guns? Archery and tomahawk throwing are rapidly growing in popularity and require skill, co-ordination and a steady hand.

Your instructor will select the correct bow for you and guide you through techniques for firing your arrows. You will then enjoy the chance to put your skills to the test and go for that bull's-eye! This is a brilliant group or family activity and is a very sociable sport.

paintball shootingPaintball (Minimum age 12 years)

In your specially issued camouflage suit you will run, crawl and dive through the woodland to defeat the opposition. Tactics are key and you will need to co-ordinate your team, making full use of the trenches, stream beds, trees and man-made hideouts. Don't forget to defend your base though, as the enemy may be closer than you think!

ardverikie offers plenty of space for mountain bikingMountain Biking (minimum age 8)

Kitted out with a helmet and protective padding and a front suspension mountain bike we can offer introductory sessions where we will teach you how to ride your bike on technical off road terrain or maybe just a gentle guided ride around the forest looking at the scenery. We are also based very close to one of Scotland’s premiere mountain bike parks where you will be guided around the purpose built trails building up your skill level along the way. Uplift can also be arranged so that you can experience a day of downhill action without the grunt of the uphill slog.

white water raftingWhite Water Rafting (minimum age 8)

White water rafting in Scotland is world class and white water rafting may be the most exhilarating activity you do all year. When you arrive at the site we will kit you up with top-of-the-range 5mm wetsuits to ensure you stay warm, wetsuit socks for your feet, a buoyancy aid, and a helmet.

After an initial safety briefing the trip will commence, with an experienced guide in each raft, to expertly steer you down the river safely; all you need to concentrate on is paddling, and hanging on tight!

Experience the thrill of flying down rapids, avoiding rocks, squeezing through gullies and dropping over waterfalls. Once you have a taste for being on the wild Scottish rivers you won't want to get back on dry land.

Abseiling

A great experience that you will never forget, no prior experience required just a stout pair of shoes and a little bit of nerve to get you over the edge. You will descend a local cliff under the supervision of our expert staff whilst controlling your own speed of descent you will also be kept safe on a separate safety rope. Water Sports

 

 

flat water canoeingFlat Water Canoeing

Our inflatable 2 man canoes are ideal for learning to paddle due to increased stability. Our 2 hour introductory sessions are designed to teach you the basic skills that you need to be able to paddle your boat in a straight line, steer and of course some safety tips as well as some fun and games on the loch. Once you have mastered this you may want to come on one of our river adventures giving you your first taste of white water rapids!

 

white water kayakaingFunyakking – River Canoeing (minimum age 8 with parental participation)

A cross between a kayak and a raft, these two man inflatable funyaks are an exciting way to travel down white water rapids. We will be on the river with you the whole way explaining the route and guiding you down stream, so while the adrenaline is pumping you can be sure of a safe experience.

This is a fast paced adventure requiring co-ordination with your partner and an ability to think on your toes! Once you have tried this activity you will not want to get back on dry land; it is truly addictive!

Canyoning (minimum age 12 with parental participation)

Canyoning is a hard sport to describe but imagine yourself sliding down smooth slabs, swimming through crystal clear pools and abseiling your way down an otherwise inaccessible deep gorge on some spectacular Scottish mountain side; this activity is guaranteed to get you excited!

You will be kitted out from head to toe in a 5mm rubber wetsuit, to ensure you stay warm, a helmet and a life jacket. We will then travel the short distance to the head of the river where you will receive a safety brief and full instruction from our experienced guides. Once fully briefed your experienced instructors will guide you down the steep sided canyon were the fun begins.

gorge walkingGorge Walking - (tailored to suit families with children over the age of 8. Parental participation necessary)

Jumping, sliding, scrambling, swimming your way up or down an otherwise inaccessible gorge on some spectacular Scottish mountain side this activity is guaranteed to get you excited. Upon arrival at our centre you will be kitted out from head to toe in a 5mm rubber wetsuit, to ensure you stay warm, a helmet and a life jacket. All you need to bring is a pair of trainers you don't mind getting wet, a towel for afterwards and a sense of humour!
